Women and smoking:
Women that smoke have a higher chance of getting heart disease and stroke. There is about 22% of women of ages between 18 to 44 smoke but only 8% of women over 65 do. Smoking damages air ways and air sockets in the lungs, and is realated to chronic coughing and wheezing. Female smokers aged 35 or older are almost 13 times more likely to die from emphysema or bronchitis. Women who smoke, especially after going through menopause, have lower bone density and a higher risk for fracture, including hip fracture, than women who do not smoke. Tobacco use can damage a woman's reproductive system. Smoking can also cause complications during pregnancy that can hurt both mother and baby. People that smoke have a higher risk of the placenta growing too close to the opening of the uterus. People that smoke are also more likely to have premature membrane ruptures and placentas that separate from the uterus too early. More than 10% of pregnant women smoke throughout their pregnancies. Smoking is linked to an increased risk of preterm delivery and infant death. Research also suggests that infants of mothers who smoke during and after pregnancy are 2 to 3 times more likely to die from sudden infant death syndrome than babies born to mothers that don't smoke.

Testicular Cancer:
Testicular cancer is caused by abnormal cells in the testes grow uncontrollably. It is easy to cure when you detect it in a early age but if you find it later on it is harder to cure or maybe not curable and may cause death. About 8,000 men a year get testicular cancer and from that 8,000 400 of them die from it. 1 out of every 100 cancers in men are testicular cancer. The rate of testicular cancer has been increasing and experts cannot find a reason for that. Most cases occur in young men around the ages of 15-39. And is most commonly in men 20-34, but 4% of men over 50 get it. White men, Asian-American, Latino, and Native American have higher rates of getting testicular cancer but white men are 5 to 10 times more likely to get it than African Americans.
Other factors increase the risk of developing testicular cancer:
* cryptorchidism — having a testicle that did not descend into the scrotum
* a family history of testicular cancer
* HIV
* Klinefelter's syndrome — a genetic condition that causes underdeveloped testicles and other problems
* having previously had testicular cancer
To protect yourself from testicular cancer you should get yourself checked when you visit a doctor or after you take a shower because then your testes stress less.
Cervical Cancer:
Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer in women and the first is HPV and you can get it by skin to skin contact. HPV is one of the cause of cervical cancer and there are ways to prevent getting cervical cancer.
1. Get vaccinated against HPV- HPV is one cause of cervical cancer and if you don't get it vaccinated then you are more likely to get than getting the vaccination shot.
2. Get regular Pap tests- if you get a pap test you can find out if you do have HPV or cervical cancer so you can get it treated at an early start.
3. Get tested for HPV- if you get a test for HPV you can get vaccinated for it so you can get a better chance of not getting cervical cancer.
4.Use condoms correctly and consistently- if you use a condom when you have intercourse you are more protected from getting cervical cancer because men can carry cervical cancer but they cannot get it. That is why you want to use a condom for intercourse.

Vitamins:
Sara Martin:
Thiamine, also called vitamin B1, is used in many different body functions. A very little amount of this vitamin is actually stored in the body. Thiamine is a very important vitamin, if somebody who is suffering from beriberi injects thiamine into there body, then they will be on their feet within a matter of hours. It also plays a role in helping circulation. It helps the blood formation and the metabolism of carbohydrates. It is also required for the health of the nervous system, and is used in the bio synthesis of a number of call constituents. Females should consume 1.0 mg per day, and males should consume 1.4 mg a day. Death in Thia min is very uncommon, although long-term amounts of larger than 3 grams have been known to cause toxicity. This vitamin should be taken with the B group vitamins and manganese. It is proven that thiamine can be useful for motion sickness in air and sea travel, and that this vitamin also repels insects when excreted through the skin.
Gabe Cornellier:
Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol)
Vitamin D helps regulate the calcium and phosphorus, when sent to the liver and kidney it also acts as a hormone that messages the intestines to increase the absorption of calcium. Vitamin D is created when exposed to the sun or eating certain foods. You may get a lot of Vitamin D from various plants, egg yolk and fish oil. You cannot get Vitamin D overdose from just being out in the sun but if you eat to much food that contains a lot of Vitamin D then there are problems that include rickets, bowing of you bones or severe liver disease. Vitamin D is not a fully understood Vitamin but is understood to help kill and cure the body of cancer cells.
Jamie Hayward:
Vitamin B-3 (Niacin)
Vitamin b-3 can be found in the following liver, heart, kidney, chicken, eggs and milk and also in tomatoes and broccoli. The recommended daily allowance of niacin is 2-12 mg a day for children 14 mg a day for women, 16 mg a day for men. People taking pharmacological doses of niacin (1.5 - 6 g per day) often experience a syndrome of side-effects that can include one or more of the following facial flushing and itching liver toxicity
Nicole Haskell:
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine, pyridoxal phosphate)...
Performs as a coenzyme (which is a small organic but non-protein molecule that carries a chemical group between enzymes) and affects the body’s use of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. It helps convert tryptophan (which is an essential amino acid that's involved in human nutrition) to niacin (which is most important to functions in the production of energy from the body’s blood sugar. It is also necessary to the production of fats in the human body. Niacin is also essential for correct functioning of the nervous system) It may be found in meat, fish, eggs, milk, and whole grain foods. This vitamin promotes healthy cardiovasicular, nervous, and immune systems. Supports healthy hair, skin and normal red-blood-cell development. Assists in the creation of food energy and possible anemia treatment. It functions as a tranquilizer, it's important for healthy nerve and muscle functioning, blood cholesterol may decrease, reduction of PMS symptoms, it may reduce asthma symptoms and increases levels of serotonin to ease sleep.
Vitamin B6 may be found in Avocados, Bananas, Beef liver, Chicken, Fortified cereals, Ground beef, Ham, Hazelnuts, Potatoes, Salmon, Shrimp, Soybeans, Sunflower seeds, Tuna and Wheat germ

Kiya-Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic Acid) , is know as the "anti-stress vitamin", it is part of the B group of vitamins, it is a water-soluble vitamin. This nutrient can be made in the body by the intestinal flora. B-5 is very important to the secretion of hormones, these hormones assist the body with metabolism, help with allergies, and beneficial to the nerves, skin, and muscles. a daily dosage, would be 10mg. its not really toxic, but to much can give you diarrhea, digestive disturbances and water retention. B-5 can be found in: beef, brewer’s yeast, eggs, fresh vegetables, kidney, legumes, liver, mushrooms, nuts, pork, royal jelly, saltwater fish, torula yeast, whole rye flour, and whole wheat.
Dustin Tallman:
Vitamin B-12 (Cyanocobalamin) performs as a coenzyme for the creation of DNA and benefits growth and cell development. B-12 comes from dairy products, eggs, and flounder. If you don't have enough vitamin B-12 you will become nausiated, have loss of appetite, and a sore mouth. Tobacco and alcohol reduce the absorption of vitamin.

Molly Chisamore:
Vitamin D (Chrolecalciferol, sunshine vitamin)
Cholecalciferol is a vitamin that can help with the absorption of calcium from the stomach and to help with the functioning of calcium throughout your body. Cholecalciferol helps people who have low calcium levels or to prevent it from happening. Chloecalciferol can also prevent osteoporosis. If you have kidney problems, heart disease, or circulation problems then you should not take this vitamin. Vitamin H is present in cheese, liver, eggs, chicken breast, mushrooms, salmon, and spinach.
Wendel Rogers:
Vitamin P or bioflavonoids are compounds found in ample amounts within plants. They serve in the defense and pigmentation of plants. Unlike many active plant compounds flavonoids have a low toxicity. Flavonoids are known for their anti-oxidant properties. And although have been called Vitamin P for ease, are not really vitamins.
Flavonoids are helpful in the absorption of Vitamin C and are more potent when taken together. However flavonoids are absorbed poorly by the body, at only about 5% . Research has also shown that flavonoids are quickly metabolized by the body, as they are seen as foreign bodies. Therefore the newest belief is that the flavonoids do not act directly in the body, but that it is the bodies reaction against them that is beneficial, almost in the same way as a vaccination. Flavonoids can provide anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-cancer services.
Flavonoids are found in most plants but the white membrane below citrus peel, as well as peppers, grapes, red wine, onions, garlic, blue and red berries, green tea and buckwheat are specifically high in them. There is little problem with deficiencies, interactions or overdoses with a decent diet, as flavonoids are common within our foods. In extreme causes an overdose of flavonoids can cause diarrhea.

Health benefits and nutrients-Diets rich in milk and milk products help build and maintain bone mass throughout the lifecycle. This may reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Milk products is especially important to bone health during childhood and adolescence, when your bone mass is being built. People who include milk products tend to be healtheir all around. Calcium in milk is used for building bones, and your teeth. Diets that provide 3 cups of milk products per day can improve bone mass. Milk products that are consumed in their low-fat or fat free forms provide little or no fat. Vitamin D functions in the body to maintain proper levels of calcium and phosphorous, thereby helping to build and maintain bones.
Tips for making wise choices-You should include milk as a beverage at meals. And you should chose either between fat-free or low-fat milk. You should also have fat-free or low-fat yougurt as a snack. You can also make your fruit-yogurt smoothies in the blender. You should always avoid raw (unpasteurized) milk or any products made from unpasteurized milk.

Milk:
Sara Martin:
If you avoid milk because of lactose intolerance, the most reliable way to get the health benefits of milk is to choose lactose-free alternatives within the milk group, such as cheese, yogurt, or lactose-free milk. Calcium choices for those who do not consume milk products include breads, soy beverages, cereals, or rice beverages.

Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) serves as a cofactor for several enzymes and keeps oxidation from occurring that could cause a harmful effects in the body. Vitamin E could be found in almond, asparagus, Brazil nuts, and broccoli. Vitamin E protects fats, cell membranes, DNA, and enzymes from damage. It improves your immune system and reduces the risk of most fatal heart attack in men. You can use it by drinking liquid that have Vitamin E inside it. It is the best way to absorb it in your body. These are the recommendations for daily use: Men:10 mg alpha TE (15 IU) Women: 8 mg alpha TE (12 IU) Pregnancy: 10 mg alpha TE (15 IU) Lactations: 12 mg alpha (18 IU). You would have contact your doctor if you have: bleeding or clotting problems, Cystic fibrosis, and liver disease, but it should not occur over 50. The side effects are breast enlargement, diarrhea, and nausea.

For spinach you would look for dark green leaves, the darker the color the more nutrition. Spinach is a laxative and the more you consume the more laxative you might get. For some people having spinach juice twice a week could be enough for someone. Spinach is high in oxalic acid and should be avoided if you have kidney stones, gout, rheumatoid, arthritis, osteoporosis, and those who stomachs are easily upset. Spinach is good for some people, but not a choice for me. There are three vitamins in spinach and they are Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, and Vitamin A.
